NVIDIA partners with Vietnam in AI development

Vietnam and NVIDIA – a global leader in AI and semiconductor technology – have signed a cooperation agreement to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development (R&D) Center in Vietnam.

The establishment of this R&D center is expected to position Vietnam as a leading AI research hub in Asia, driving breakthroughs in key technological sectors and expanding career opportunities for the country’s workforce.

Additionally, NVIDIA surprised many by acquiring VinBrain – a Vietnamese AI startup – to serve as the foundation for building the AI R&D center, marking a strategic move in NVIDIA’s investment plans in Vietnam.

NVIDIA’s investment in Vietnam represents a significant milestone, signaling the country’s transformation in the AI era and paving the way for Vietnam to become one of the top AI research centers in Asia.

OpenAI officially launches Sora

On December 10, OpenAI officially launched its AI video generation tool, Sora, which allows users to quickly create short videos from text descriptions. Sora acts as a creative assistant, enabling users to produce and edit video content with ease.

This launch marks the first time Sora has been widely introduced, having previously been limited to a small group of artists, filmmakers, and safety testers since its initial debut in February this year.

However, OpenAI temporarily shut down Sora shortly after the launch due to overwhelming traffic. On the social media platform X, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman acknowledged that the company had “significantly underestimated demand” and mentioned that it will take some time to grant full access to all users.

Google launches Gemini 2.0 – A breakthrough content creation tool

Google has officially launched Gemini 2.0, an advanced AI model capable of generating multimodal content, including text, images, and audio. Compared to version 1.5, Gemini 2.0 significantly enhances performance, particularly in coding and solving mathematical problems, with response speeds twice as fast.

The initial version, Gemini 2.0 Flash, is now available in beta for users and developers through the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. Users can also experience it via the Gemini chatbot by selecting the 2.0 Flash version. Google plans to expand the application and other models of Gemini 2.0 by January 2025.

The release of Gemini 2.0 marks a significant milestone for Google in the AI race, aiming to integrate AI into most of its products and deliver a richer user experience.
