The judge is 'conquered' by the legal virtual assistant.

The number of cases that need to be resolved each year is large and rapidly increasing, leading to a situation of overwork in the general court system and among judges in particular. To address this issue, Viettel CyberSpace, the Viettel Group's Cyber Space Center, has conducted research and development of a legal virtual assistant to serve the Vietnamese judicial system.

After over a year of testing, this virtual assistant is the only one in Vietnam with a large and reliable legal knowledge base. The software has proven its effectiveness by reducing the workload by 30% compared to traditional processes, optimizing the operation time of the entire court system.

Dispelling initial hesitation and doubt

Since the Supreme People's Court introduced the virtual assistant software to all courts across the country, judges have been provided with accounts and passwords to use the software.

Sharing her initial feelings about using the virtual assistant, Judge Le Thi Khanh from the Cau Giay District People's Court said: "Initially, when we first learned about the virtual assistant, we had the feeling that it was a machine, IT, and it would be difficult to use."

"I had a habit of working based on legal documents and my own experience. But after getting used to using the virtual assistant, I found it to be very efficient. Instead of having to ask, search through a pile of documents, the virtual assistant will guide me directly. That is a very good thing, completely changing the habit of research," Judge Le Thi Khanh stated.

According to Ms. Khanh, the Cau Giay District People's Court currently has 13 judges. Initially, everyone was hesitant about the legal virtual assistant, but once they became accustomed to it, they all praised its effectiveness.

One of the tasks of judges is to publicly post verdicts on the website for the announcement of verdicts by the Supreme People's Court. Before the virtual assistant, judges were supported by a team of real secretaries. Their task was to encode detailed information about the individuals in the verdict before publication, as required. Judges would then manually review the data encoding process.

Depending on the length, typically during a session, judges with the assistance of secretaries could only encode 4-5 verdicts. Since the virtual assistant software was introduced, the encoding process has become very fast. In some cases, it takes only 30-40 minutes to encode 10-15 verdicts.

The virtual legal assistant also plays an important role in exchanging professional knowledge. In legal situations that rarely occur, the virtual assistant provides judges with reference tools to see how colleagues in different regions across the country handle similar cases.

"For example, cases like the one involving lawyer Le Huu Long at Nga Hoang Pagoda (Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc) are rare, and there is limited documentation. Through the virtual assistant, I can post the case for reference and opinions from judges across the country, which helps in making informed decisions," Judge Le Thi Khanh shared.

From a regular user's perspective, Judge Le Thi Khanh believes that Viettel's legal virtual assistant is a valuable tool for judges, especially young and newly appointed judges or those in their early careers.
