Recently, Viettel Cyberspace Center officially operated the high-performance computing system at Viettel Data Center.
This is a turning point that helps Viettel improve its computing capacity to build and operate more complex artificial intelligence models in a short time when the demand for computation increases sharply in both quantity and scale according to the target. By 2030, Vietnam will become a center of innovation and development of AI solutions and applications in the ASEAN region and around the world.
The system invested by Viettel has the leading computing performance in Vietnam, reaching 20 PetaFlops (20 million billion calculations per second), helping to reduce machine learning training time by dozens of times. As a result, Viettel Cyberspace Center can train many models at the same time, with high complexity. The system also trains continuous model improvement, shortening the time it takes to improve the quality of AI models.
The supercomputer invested by Viettel uses computational acceleration technologies, switching devices, and synchronous software, similar to the technology of supercomputers in the Top 500 in the world.
Putting the system into operation marks a new development step for Viettel in realizing the decision on promulgating the national strategy on research, development, and application of artificial intelligence by 2030, issued by the Prime Minister. issued last January.
As a national security and defense enterprise, possessing the largest telecommunications and information technology infrastructure in the country, Viettel aims to play a key role in applying artificial intelligence in the field of military and defense, as well as other sectors. the field of ensuring data safety, network safety and security; urban management, social management, and public administration, and areas of social life.
"The high-performance computing system will allow Viettel to create new revenue opportunities and be a global pioneer in the use of AI solutions." According to Mr. Anish Pandey, Regional Director of ASEAN region at NVIDIA (World No. 1 Artificial Intelligence computing company).
